Engagement Session

Selecting the Perfect Location
  • Consider Seasonal Aesthetics: Different seasons provide unique backdrops. Spring brings fresh blooms, summer offers lush greenery, autumn boasts colorful leaves, and winter can provide a cozy, romantic atmosphere. Choose a season that aligns with the look and feel you want to create.

  • Keep It Simple: A location with minimal distractions allows your love story to shine through. Avoid overly busy or cluttered backgrounds so the focus remains on you and your partner. If you’re unsure, your photographer can suggest stunning, quiet spots that offer timeless aesthetics.

Outfit Choices
  • Coordinate, Don’t Match: Choose outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy. Stick to a color palette that flatters both of you and enhances the overall vibe of the session. Think neutral tones for a timeless look or bold colors for a more modern feel.

  • Dress for Comfort and Confidence: Wear clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in. Avoid overly busy patterns or clothing that’s too tight or too loose. The goal is to feel like yourselves and be able to move freely during the session.

  • Bring Multiple Outfits: Consider bringing a couple of outfit changes for variety in your photos. One formal outfit (like a nice dress or suit) and one more casual or relaxed outfit will give you different looks while keeping the session fresh.

Hair and Makeup
  • Look Like the Best Version of Yourself: Keep your hair and makeup natural and polished. If you’re planning to do your own hair and makeup, make sure you’re happy with how it looks ahead of time. You may want to have a trial run to ensure everything is perfect.

  • Professional Touch: If you can, consider hiring a professional hairstylist or makeup artist for the session. They’ll help you achieve a polished look and ensure that your hair and makeup stay in place during the shoot.

Incorporate Personal Touches
  • Props and Accessories: Personal touches, such as a meaningful book, your favorite shared activity, or a special piece of jewelry, can add a unique flair to your engagement photos. Just remember, the focus should always be on the love you share.

  • Pets: If your pet is an important part of your relationship, include them in the session! Pets can add a fun, playful element to the photos and show a more personal side of you as a couple.

Prepare for Poses and Candids Shots
  • Natural Poses: Don’t stress about stiff, posed shots. A good photographer will guide you into flattering, natural poses that highlight your connection. Candid moments are often the most intimate and romantic, so focus on being present and enjoying each other’s company.

  • Communicate Your Comfort Zone: Let your photographer know if there are any poses or angles you’re not comfortable with. They’re there to help you feel at ease and capture the most beautiful, authentic version of your relationship.
