For couples looking to tell their unique love story through photography, incorporating meaningful locations is key. As a Kansas City engagement photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing Taylor and Clayton’s engagement session at two locations dear to them: their wedding venue, Bell of Camden Point, and the site of their proposal, Cider Hill Family Orchard.
Taylor, a Kansas City native, and Clayton, from Illinois, wanted their engagement photos to reflect the significance of their relationship, rather than focusing solely on the city. The first location, Bell of Camden Point, where they’ll say their vows, held deep sentimental value. At Cider Hill Family Orchard, where Clayton proposed, we found an incredible backdrop — a stunning grove of willow trees by the pond, perfectly lit by the golden sun.
As a Kansas City wedding photographer, I strive to make each session unique. Taylor and Clayton's vision for a bright, airy session was tied to their upcoming spring wedding. I worked with them to choose a soft color palette for their outfits and planned the session before the fall colors emerged, capturing the essence of their May wedding. We also personalized the session by creating a mood board and planning outfits that made them feel confident in front of the camera.
During their session, my focus was on making Taylor and Clayton feel at ease. From helping them plan their outfits to capturing authentic moments, I ensure my couples are comfortable so that their true personalities shine through in every image.
Taylor and Clayton’s session is a reminder of how meaningful locations and thoughtful planning can result in truly unique and beautiful engagement photos.
