Kansas City Wedding at Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden

bride and groom walking up stairs in kansas city

We were blessed with the perfect Kansas City weather for Kaitlyn and Jake's wedding day. An early Saturday morning in downtown KC was the perfect setting for these two to tie the knot. I met Kaitlyn through one of my previous brides during her destination elopement. Of the course of the weekend, I was able to get to know Kaitlyn well and be the time we got back the Kansas City, she reached out to ask if I could photograph her wedding day. The obvious answer being YES!

Their engagement session was the perfect introduction to how beautiful their wedding day would be. We began shooting in the West Bottoms, which is always a gorgeous backdrop, then headed over to one of my favorite skyline views, Poindexter Parking Garage. As silly as it may sound, yes a parking garage is totally a great place for engagement photos. The sun was perfectly golden and complimented their timeless outfits.

Enough out the backstory, I want to talk about this perfect wedding! We started the day off at one of the most beautiful bridal suites I've ever seen. Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden has a massive bridal suite with tons of natural light and all white brick. You can't ask for much more! Even better, there are two separate rooms which helped keep one of the spaces keep so Kaitlyn could have a minimalistic backdrop for her getting ready candids.

After a few first looks and a first touch shared by the bride and groom, we headed over to the church so these two could say their vows and officially be married. The party bus picked everyone up and we headed over to one of my favorite spots for wedding portraits: The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. We started with the full bridal party and had some fun sharking flowers everywhere. Kaitlyn and Jake's dog made a special guest appearance as the bridal party headed back onto the bus to relax and then it was time for couple portraits.

Kaitlyn mentioned that she wanted some green incorporated into their photos, so we made the trek to the south side of The Nelson to shoot with the trees in the background. Luckily for us, the event that was being hosted in the back lawn was just wrapping up, so we had plenty of room to take these photos. I think my favorite photos from the day have to be in between the columns. Can you ask for a better setting? I don't think so!

Well, I hope you're eager to see these photos, because here they are!
